WHY CHOOSE ISR?
WHAT WILL MY CHILD LEARN IN LESSONS

What your child will learn, and the way he or she will learn it, is what makes ISR so different from traditional swimming lessons. Always putting safety first, ISR emphasizes competence, which leads to confidence, and provides the foundation for a lifetime of enjoyment in and around the water.
What your child will learn depends on his or her age and developmental readiness, but in all cases, at minimum, your child will learn to roll onto his or her back to float, rest, and breathe, and to maintain this position until help arrives.
THE ROLL BACK TO FLOAT
Lessons for children 6 months to 12-15 months focuses on teaching the ISR Self-Rescue skill of rolling onto their back to float, rest and breathe and to be able to maintain this life-saving position until help arrives. This is the most important component to ISR swimming lessons. Teaching a child to find their float from various positions equips them with the life-saving skill to Self-Rescue.

THE SWIM FLOAT SWIM
Lessons for children 1-6 years old focuses on teaching the full ISR Self-Rescue survival sequence of Swim Float Swim. Children will learn to swim a short distance with their head down; roll onto their back to float, rest, and breathe; and flip back over to resume swimming. The Swim-Float-Swim can be repeated until they reach the edge of the pool or steps where they can crawl out. In a situation where they cannot reach the edge of pool or steps, the children will maintain a float until they can be rescued.

THE REFRESHER
Refresher lessons are extremely important in continuing and maintaining your child's ISR Self-Rescue skills. Children grow and develop rapidly from infancy through young childhood. This development process represents improved strength, coordination and a more finely tuned cognitive ability. In accordance with this growth, children enrolled in ISR return periodically to participate in Refresher Lessons.
